“Tombamento” is a new series of works that was born from the experience at W. Artistic residency in Ribeirão Preto, under the guidance of the artist Elcio Miazaki.
Arriving in the city I observed old buildings in poor preservation, many of them still with date in its facade of the beginning of the century. XX. On a Sunday morning, I make a photographic record of these buildings incorporated into the city landscape. The time photographed is relevant because the buildings in the process of being listed are normally intended to be destroyed illegally during the early hours or weekends, when the surveillance of the places is less.

The captured images are printed and with a stylus the old construction is cut out and eliminated, leaving the empty space there.

As the tipping of a good, an act of recognition of historical, artistic or cultural value, its disappearance, means its erasure in relation to the community of that place, enhancing the absence of its own history.

As a result of this first research, I transfer the contours of these buildings on a larger scale, to a wall in space through black strings, where nails connect the line outlining the silhouette of the eliminated building, implying the presence of that building as a subtle reminder of its existence.

Chegando à cidade observei edifícios antigos em má preservação, muitos deles ainda com data em sua fachada do início do sec. XX. Em uma manhã de domingo, faço um registro fotográfico estes prédios incorporados a paisagem da cidade. O horário fotografado é relevante pois os edifícios em vias de tombamento são normalmente visados para serem destruídos ilegalmente durante as madrugadas ou fins de semana, quando a vigilância dos locais é menor.

As imagens capturadas são impressas e com um estilete a construção antiga é recortada e eliminada, deixando ali o espaço vazio.

Sendo o tombamento de um bem, um ato de reconhecimento do valor histórico, artístico ou cultural, o desaparecimento deste, significa o seu apagamento em relação a comunidade daquele local, potencializando a ausência de sua própria história.

Como um desdobramento desta primeira pesquisa, transfiro os contornos desses prédios em uma escala maior, para uma parede no espaço através de barbantes pretos, onde pregos ligam a linha delineando a silhueta do edifício eliminado, insinuando a presença daquele edifício como uma sutil lembrança de sua existência.
